PLEASE LIGHT A CANDLE FOR OUR MOM Thank You!
Our Mom suffered a stroke six years ago. After a lot of hard work ,on her part, the damaged from the stroke came back, but she needed 24/7 care after that. Two of the ladies that helped us out with our Mom were with us for the whole five years taking care of her. Everyone had a shift with her. She was a diabetic, which lead to a lot of other problems for her. She became legally blind, had conjestive heart failure, among other health problems. Then her kidney failed and she was in intesive care for a month. When she finally came home she was unable to walk anymore. For the next two years she went 3 to 4 times a week by ambulance to dialysis for 3 and a half hours. During the time of dialysis she was never left alone. Either myself or my brother sat by her side. There is so much to dialysis. Only the people that go through it will ever know the extent of it. She was doing so good. Even though she had to be in bed she was happy. She loved being waited on by myself or my brother. She loved having us around. She loved having her 3 year old great grandson over. He made her always laugh. She suddenly developed a UTI infection, which they said was common for dialysis patients. They told us the infection was finally gone. It wasn't. Her last time at dialysis she asked me to take her back home. Then she closed her eyes. They called 911 and took her to emergency. She was in intensive care for six days. She was in intensive care on October 15, 2009 and her grandson's wedding was on October 17,2009, she was never able to see him get married. When her heart stopped, my brother had her in his arms, and I was holding her hand. She knew that we were both there with her. We both know that for sure.
